An emerging painter, photographer, mother and wife at the same time, born in Riga and raised in the UK, whose practice predominantly utilises painting, photography and mixed-media processes to highlight socio-cultural and personal issues that affect her.

As a woman navigating contemporary society, a key focus within my work is the portrayal and perception of the female body and its development within art. My work draws on research of 15th-17th century paintings and study of the human anatomy. Some of my acrylic paintings are distinguished by the fact that I experiment with wood boards, juxtaposing the materials with the content of the oeuvre, making it interactive with the audience.

Recently, my practice has reconnected to photography; I have been exploring its association with the my work’s context. I aim to capture and play with the notions of staged portraiture depicting woman’s role in art from my own perspective and lived experience as a woman. I utilise a range of photography methods including digital, polaroid and film production. Proficient in using various internet platforms, for instance digital design and photoshop.

The composition of the paintings and photographic work that I produce are schematic, inviting the viewer to move into a space of speculation. Within this realm, my work varies from representational to surreal.
